Pupil's Creativity put to the Public Vote!

5 Nov 2006

The Newbury-based 21st Century Family website, Funky Angel, are running a Winter InterSchool Art Gallery over Christmas on their ‘Funky Cherubs’ area for children.

Founder Claire Burdett, whose photograph is currently one of those being featured in the Breathe/ Best of Newbury exhibition at the Corn Exchange, said:

“It’s really easy for schools to enter, great fun for the children and perfect for integrating their skills across the board. The aim of the competition is to enable children to follow the entire process of creating a picture, digitally capturing it, and then seeing it appear independently on the internet in a safe interactive format – and then being able to vote on it and have their say!”

Since it’ll be the school with the most votes that will win, as decided by the public, it also brings a little healthy interschool competition into play!”

All local Junior schools are invited to submit 4 pictures each, either new or existing art, one from each year group (years 3-6 inclusive) to Funky Angel by an extended deadline of 15th December 2006 in response to requests from schools, who want to create new art especially for the competition.

The pictures will then be uploaded into the art gallery at www.funkyangel.co.uk and Funky Angel will create a unique e-card for each of the entrants. The children (and everyone else) can then vote on whatever pictures they like best - or just for their school!

The picture in each Year Group that has the most votes by the closing date will win its creator a personalised t-shirt or mug with his or her picture and name printed it, kindly donated by local photo specialists, SnappySnaps.

The school with the most votes overall will be awarded an engraved silver cup and SnappySnaps will create a unique one-off canvas of the school’s four entrants for the school to display and keep.

Voting will now run until the end of January, as schools have requested more time to create their art, and so the copetition now closes on so the winning school can be announced before the end of term.
